Inauguration of AU's 24th President

A Note of Thanks from
President Stephanie Herseth Sandlin:

Dear Friends,
Inauguration week was an opportunity to reflect on Augustana’s 157-year history, to reaffirm our mission, to celebrate our core values, and to consider the possibilities ahead. As we inaugurate a new chapter and prepare to write the next page in our story, I want you to know how grateful I am to you for your thoughts, your prayers and your presence.

I believe Augustana’s most valuable asset is its people.

So it is fitting that today we pause and give thanks for our passionate professors who inspire, teach and mentor our students; our talented administrators who serve our students, families, alumni and friends with steadfast dedication; and our caring staff who support our facilities, our students and our mission in countless ways.

We give thanks today for our students — individuals from throughout the U.S. and around the world who accept the call to explore and discover new ideas and pursue lives of meaning and purpose. You are the change-makers and bridge-builders of tomorrow. Your spirit, curiosity and compassion represent the possibility of the future.

To our alumni and friends, we give our thanks for your continued love and support of Augustana. You continue to show us how Christian faith, the liberal arts, excellence, community and service can be the compass for one’s life. And for that, we are forever grateful.

Augustana is a community of extraordinary servant leaders, and I am honored and humbled to be a part of it. I pledge to work beside you, and for you, to advance this place and its mission in our world today.

In Gratitude,
Stephanie Herseth Sandlin
