Department of Business Administration

Small class sizes, excellent professors, partnerships with Sioux Falls business leaders and internships deliver an experience that sets Augustana University students and alums apart from the competition. As you engage in classroom projects, interact with business professionals, and gain practical experience you’ll be prepared for success long before you even step into the work force with your AU degree.

Graduates of our business programs enjoy a 100% success rate in finding a job or continuing on to graduate school. We believe that when you do things right, success isn’t a question. It’s the blend of liberal arts with 21st Century skills that equips students to be critical thinkers and problem solvers. You’ll be a leader, a communicator and contributor.

Augustana's average score in each of the four sections of the CPA exam is 80, the highest in the state.

Exceptional faculty combine business experience and scholarly achievement. Whether you aspire to be a corporate leader, entrepreneur, or CPA, you’ll connect with a professor who has been there and maintains professional connections. Outside the classroom, AU’s extensive internship opportunities, seminars, workshops and special programming through the Leadership Academy provide an extra dimension to your business education that can further accelerate your career.

The business administration department attracts students who wish to enter the business world with a solid theoretical foundation as well as practical experience, and places graduates in jobs where they are equipped to think critically, solve problems and understand business in a global context.

By blending the broad liberal arts learning experience with the specific major requirements, the department’s main objective is to provide a quality academic program that equips students for careers in business or graduate studies. Faculty maintain strong ties with the business community, fostering internship and employment opportunities for students. Regular symposiums and workshops focus on linking coursework with employment expectations, and encourage networking and mentoring.
