Extensive bilingual knowledge and flexibility in American Sign Language and English is required. Our American Sign Language and interpreting classes will give you the bilingual framework and the cognitive processing training you need to succeed.

The Sign Language Interpreting program prepares students to interpret in a variety of settings. The program has been developed in accordance with the Conference of Interpreter Trainers (CIT) recommended course of study and is based on a broad foundation of liberal arts, sciences, professional education, research, and practicum experiences.

Commission on Collegiate Interpreter Education (CCIE)Augustana's program has national accreditation through the Commission on Collegiate Interpreter Education (CCIE). Augustana is one of only 13 bachelor degree programs in the country to achieve this honor.
